Since 2021, African Association of Miyagi (AFAM) has been promoting the AFAM Africa Education Initiative, which aims to create an environment where all African children can have access to quality education. To realize this goal, AFAM supports the Child-Friendly Schools Initiative launched by UNICEF.

This initiative is positioned as a means to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.

Last year, AFAM received a request from Swedru High School (SWESCO) in the Republic of Ghana for assistance in renovating some of its poor facilities. In response, AFAM requested cooperation from Miyagi Co-op, and Miyagi Co-op responded to the request and decided to make a donation.

On March 23, a donation ceremony was held at the Miyagi Co-op head office, where former Miyagi Co-op Managing Director/CEO Mr. OHKOSHI Kenji presented Dr. Isaac ASIEDU, President of AFAM with 150,000 yen to support the "Child-Friendly School" initiative at SWESCO.

Dr. ASIEDU said, "We sincerely appreciate Miyagi Co-op's support, and AFAM, together with Miyagi Co-op, will continue to improve the educational environment for children in Africa. Thank you very much for your cooperation."

Mr. OHKOSHI stated, "I would be happy if the donation is effectively used as part of the renovation costs to improve the learning environment at SWESCO."
